Team A

In addition to our very scenic finale, Team B got a little revenge on us. Silly string and apple slices were rained down on our RV.

Team A

We are back up and at it. Heading to the starting point to meet up with Team C. This will be our last leg and take the team from 290 miles to 310.

Team B - Team A hand off # 4

So the hand off to team B was priceless. The whole team A lead a water ballon attack on the entire team B. Waymon and Lynn took the brunt of the attack unfortunately, but it was super fun.

Love our Team B! Good luck guys with the stretch from 275 to 300! the attack consumed all hands.

Team A - it's getting worse

I think every time one of our runners gets back in the RV, they want revenge on the next runner.

We really got Keavy, but she's still smiling.

Team A - Surprises never stop here

We actually managed to surprise Jessica because she was looking down.

Team A - a little more fun

Somewhere near mile 290, Butch and Shane snuck up on Kelly Cannon during her run and gave her a little surprise.

It quickly turned to the RV though. Great pics by Keavy.

Team A - Super team

We've been having a lot more fun on our 4th leg. Thanks to an energetic hand off from team C.

We are currently just out of Thomasville working on mile 280!

Team C - handing off to Team A

Kevin brought us the baton in style.

Team B - Running in the Rain

We were hoping the weather would clear up before our 3rd leg, but we were not so fortunate... So, after getting the RV stuck on the side of the road then having a state truck tow us back onto the road, we are finally running. Nothing like a soft shoulder and a heavy RV to creat issues.

Robby is out now pulling some hills on our way to Camden, AL. We have passed the halfway point and are getting closer to Dauphin Island!

Team B

Team A - end of leg #3

Well, we finished another 25 miles. 175 down, 175 miles to go.

We had a great time this morning, despite being rained on about 90% of the time. Great scenery and we had a hoot on the RV.

Now, it's on to breakfast. Good luck Team b and Team C.

Team A - Leg 3

We returned to running 4:55 AM this morning only to hit some pretty heavy rain. Trey did a great job running through it and keeping us on pace.

Caleb jumped out of the driver seat this morning and put on his running shoes. The rain is slacking up now.

It's hard to tell from this picture, but the gang said it looks like even though Caleb was running we were actually moving at 0 mph on the speedometer. ??

Team B - Second one down and three to go!

We are finished with round 2 now for some grub! And only Selma's finest Mr Waffle will do where Sagging Pants are against the law!

Team B - Second Run

Second run is underway. We love running at night! It's cooler, peaceful, there's less traffic, and you can't see the hills coming!!! Our regular Pizza place didn't come through for us this year. They wanted us to wait 45 minutes for some grub (please). So if anyone has a suggested late-night restaurant in the Selma area, we welcome any and all ideas.

Night running,

Team B

Team A - Post Race meal

Well, at the end of a pretty long day, not much is open in terms of getting something to eat. Whataburger it is! Team A post race meal.

Team A - Leg # 2

Another 25 down, so we have knocked out 100 of 350.

Team A - Butch bringing us in

Butch brought team A to the end of our 2nd leg. Here he is handing off again to Team B.

I guess we will see you guys in 8 hours and 50 miles. Good luck with the all night runs!

Team A - Shane Powell

Having some fun in the #2 spot!

Butch tried some shenanigans!

Team A - Trey Hayes

Trey said he felt like Forrest Gump running through this area. I think he just earned a "hey Forrest!"

First 75 miles

Team A - ready for Leg 2

Team A, waiting and ready to begin our 2nd leg. We've covered about 75 miles collectively, just waiting on team C to reach us.

As we passed Team C them we gave them a "warm welcome"! Just trying to help them out.

We've named our team "the Dream Team and the Meanie Wennie". Let's hope we have another successful leg to back it up.

Team C - In Waiting

Team C ready and waiting for the handoff from Team B.

Team B: First Run

Big W pulling the Anniston route for Team B! Nothing like running in the city during lunch hour.

Team B taking the handoff

Team A just finished up and passed the baton to Team B. They were ready and waiting to go. Good luck team B! See you in a few hours.

Team A - Leg 1 finished

24.5 miles down at the end of our leg in 3 hours 45 minutes.

Team A - Butch Guimond

Butch has the last part of leg 1! Finishing up strong.

Team A - Kelly Cannon

Kelly getting us close to the end of leg 1.

Always on!

Passing by one of our offices! Alabama Power, always on!

Jessica just got us to the turn of leg 1!

Way to go Jessica! Half way down team A leg 1.

SouthWire brought out a breakfast team for us also. Thanks guys!

Team B is Off!

After a slight delay due to adverse traffic conditions, the entire team is together and headed out. We thank our Southwire sponsors for their hospitality as we eagerly await breakfast and our fist leg. It will be here before we know it!

Until then,

Team B: Robby, Waymon, Kathleen, Shilonqua, Bryan, Eddie, Danny, Gary, Kerry, Lynn

Getting started for 2013

Alabama Power and Run for the Reason are back for 2013.  We wrapped up the week which included our official kick off meeting.  Hopefully, everyone's individual pages are up and ready for donations.  According to Trey, our chairman for 2013, our teams should be put together shortly and maybe we can get some friendly team competition going.

Our 17 runners are all training getting ready for our 350 mile voyage across the great state of Alabama on April 19th.  I believe next week might include some training stories.

Don't forget to donate to our team, we have a goal to raise $40,000.  It's really all about raising money for the American Cancer Society.  Donation Page
